More about Claremont Methodist Church
Claremont Methodist Church welcomes the whole Southern Suburbs community to join our community to worship and to spread the love of God in ways that are needed and relevant. The ministry has been active for more than 100 years and we have become intertwined in the local Claremont community. We believe that our church is fully centred on Jesus Christ and over the years the Holy Spirit have done miraculous things in our church as well as in the surrounding community.
The church was established in 1904, where the first Sunday services took place on the 18th of September. Our church is led by Reverend David Howard, who began his ministry in Claremont in 2011. His passion for worship and intimacy with Jesus is greatly visible and is what ignites the church members’ hearts to come together and praise the Lord.
What we offer
At Claremont Methodist Church, we believe that our aim is to share the love of God with the community around us, in various ways. We have a weekly programme that allows each and everyone to partake in our services.
Our programme is as follows:
- Our main services take place on Sunday, at 9am and 6pm (in English) and at 11am (in Xhosa). We also have a youth service that is held at 9am. If you prefer sleeping in, you can always join our evening service, starting at 6pm.
- Each Wednesday, our church members are welcome to come and join in prayer from 9-10am, after which a Bible reading will take place from 10-11am. For those working, you can also join our open house prayer time from 4:30-6pm.
- On Fridays, we focus solely on our youth services, with a KICK service (for kids) from 6:30-8pm, and a youth services from 8-10pm.
Furthermore, we offer a range of community services and charity projects which take place during the year. Our church office is open daily from 8:30-12:30 for any members wanting to get in touch with us.
If you have any questions, we will be happy to help. We hope to see you or hear from you very soon!
